I just got lied to. This actor, who has been a major problem since the read-through, has been saying a line wrong about half the time. She says lots of lines wrong, but this one is being flubbed deliberately. It's different every night, and it's getting weirder and weirder. Tonight I told her to knock it off. She looked me right in the eye and tried to pretend that she didn't know she was doing it. She is NOT that good of an actress. I reminded her that she was on stage with a young boy and two beginning actors, and that if they broke out into giggles, it would absolutely ruin the scene (and probably the whole act). She said, "well, nobody laughed!" There was no remorse or comprehension, just defiance.
She has just moved to the top of my "NEVER HIRE AGAIN" list.
I'm so mad my hands are shaking.
