Motorin'
Did everyone but me know that all the party dresses this season are made of chiffon in heinous pastels and cut on the bias? Why was I not alerted? My dress-buying expedition was an unqualified failure. I went to Bloomie's, Macy's, Nordstrom and even Neiman-Marcus. BLECH. Guess I'll have to drag my ass down to Moon Zoom and get something vintage.
At least I found what I wanted at the grocery store. After the trip to the Maul, I went to the yarn store (well, you didn't think I was going to take University during rush hour, did you? The only sane choice is to take Willow. And you didn't think I was going to Menlo Park without going to the yarn store, did you? DID YOU?) and my Midwest Moonlight scarf was much admired. I bought a pair of shorter bamboo #8 needles. The ones I traded from Elizabeth are too, too long, and my metal ones still have the Ruffles on them.
On the way home, I listened to my Money & Run mix CD. It made me all mushy and stuff and made me miss the weirdos at Impact. I think I'll go see their Othello. Maybe Casey will be naked!

Cute car! I like those Jettas.
Umm. Does this mean I don't get to have the Moonlight Madness?
What kind of dress are you looking for? Something formal? I wore an Indian formal outfit at Christmas and everyone loved it. It is also very flattering to the figure and much adorned with beautiful embroidery.. just an idea. There is a shop next to Massimo's that sells Indian sari's, etc. You should check it out anyway- they are really, really nice and the clothes are BEEEYOOOTIFUL!

I'll make you your very own Moonlight Madness, dearie. Just come with me to the yarn store and pick something out.
Yeah, I need something formal-ish. A sari is a great idea. I know exactly the store you're talking about.

Everything this season appears to be in heinous pastels. Even my Land's End catalog has been infiltrated. I was all ready to buy a new shirt until I realized that I'd have to choose between hot pink, coral, lemon yellow, pistachio, and turquoise, all of which look dreadful on me. *sigh*

Land's End as well? Crap, I am doomed.

Since when do you buy clothes from Land's End? Aren't they affiliated with Sears now?
Try J Jill. Some of their stuff is a little granny for me, but they have sme nice cotton and linen stuff in the summer that's cute.

No, no. I mean that if even Land's End stoops to hideous seasonal colors, it's all over. I like Land's End, but nothing ever fits me right. J Jill always has stuff that fits me, even if it's not very flattering. They tend to make things that drape nicely on flat-chested people (and makes me look pregnant).
