cabin fever

Since I went to all the trouble to wash my hair yesterday, I really feel that I ought to leave the house. I went outside to get the mail yesterday (got my license plates finally, hooray), but that was it. There's nothing in the house for dinner, so I really think I'm going to have to go. The HE doesn't feel too bad today (I am Vicodin-free so far), so maybe I'll be able to drive without being so scared I nearly pass out.

Of course, if I leave the house this means I WILL go to the yarn store. I've come to a point in my knitting life where I've decided I can't live without a certain something. Stitch markers. I'm making the very cool Shining Star hat, and my piece-of-contrasting-yarn-tied-in-a-loop-as-stitch-marker just ain't cutting it. I need it to mark the beginning of the round. Ususally when I'm making a hat, I just rely on the cast-on tail to guide me, but this is knitted from the top down and I don't have a tail in the appropriate place. The loop of yarn I'm using keeps falling off, which is really not very helpful. I need something that won't fall off the needle every thirty seconds.

Also, I need some teensy weensy sock needles. I got that Folk Socks book the other day, and practically everything in is knit on US#2 needles or smaller. Sigh. Rob liked a pair in there, so I thought I'd try to make them. Of course, I don't even begin to understand what's happening in the pattern.

Also, I'd better get cracking on the doggie thingy for Troy, since I'll be seeing him on Sunday. Of course, I don't need to leave the house to do that.

On second thought, I really can't see out of the HE. Screw it, I'm staying in. Is this just an excuse to not have to put on pants and have Indian food for dinner?

It's an excuse to stay in and have Indian food for dinner. But Indian food is worth making an excuse for! And I'm sure Boney the dog will be very happy about the doggy thingy you're going to make for her... poor earless [on one side] pooch! See you Sunday!

And if there's one good thing about Fremont, it's Indian food. Yum, yum, yum. I'm craving me some chana masala real bad right now.

Don't bother putting pants on on our account. :-0

Pants really are overrated.

I'm glad your eye is starting to feel better, and I'm so glad you got Folk socks. What a great book.

Thanks for stopping by! Isn't that Amazon thing great? It really adds a whole new dimension to a book. I'm not sure it's a legitimate one - but interesting none-the-less. I also recently got Folk socks - it's pretty cool. I hope to finish my current sock something this century....

Now I just have to gird up my loins, stock up on tequila and actually START a project from that book.

The funny thing about the Amazon concordance thingy is that most of the books I read (besides knitting books) are plays. It amuses me that names of characters and stage directions factor into the word count.

Sorry to hear about the HE :( I hope it gets better soon!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and supporting the relay for cancer! I'm sorry you can't make it, but I'll try to knit double time for you!

Are your loins girded yet?

Posted by: Amy at April 17, 2005 8:15 PM

Not really. Plus, I don't have the right size needles. And I'm chicken.
