hat and sock and pope

Picture_003_1I couldn't bear to frog an entire finished object, so I threw caution to the wind and decided to felt my hat. It was too big, but not ginormous, so I tossed it into a sink full of hot water and agitating it with a spoon. To my surprise, the hat just got bigger. At this point, it didn't even fit Rob, so I hucked it into the washing machine with a pair of jeans, and voila! It totally felted! And it fits!

My first pair of socks is underway. I'm using Lana Grossa Cool Wool 2000. It kicks ass. It's extremely resilient and oh, so soft. It really shows mistakes, though. The ribbed part of the sock looks a little sketchy, but the stockinette part is super nice.

Am I going to hell because I'm glad that no Pope Deathwatch news interrupted today's All My Children?

OMG, my grandma made me watch All My Children with her. The last time I saw it was in... 1998, and nothing has changed. I can't believe you watch it!

It's a sickness, I know. But I've watched it since I can remember, and I can't give it up. Thank goodness for TiVo, which allows me to fast-forward through boring storylines.

No you are not going to hell, since that would require you to have sinned in some way that is inexcusable and... wait a minute, um, you just might. Just kidding. Never take theological advice from an atheist.

No, I think I'm fucked. From Wikipedia:

"Some sins that orthodox Catholics consider to be mortal (if the conditions above are met) include adultery, murder, lust, missing mass on Sunday (except when one must, e.g., child care, dangerous roads, etc.), perjury, incredulity, and the use of contraceptives."

I've never actually killed anyone, and I've never committed perjury (in court). I'm not sure what they mean by "incredulity", but the rest of that list could have been lifted from my day planner.

Fortunately, I am also an atheist.

Adultery, lust, contraceptives... sounds like a theme if I ever heard one.
