Hey, did you hear?

My eyeball hurts! Wow! Who knew?

So I finished that Airy Scarf out of Last Minute Knitted Gifts. It's lovely and pink and fluffy, but it was a pain in the ass to make. I had to frog a few rows here and there, and every time I did it took three years off of my life. NO MORE MOHAIR.

I just started making Branching Out, from the new Knitty. I wasn't going to make it, just out of spite, but I happened to have the exact yarn it called for. And I was looking for a lace pattern that wasn't too hard but harder than the last lace I worked on. This fit the bill exactly. But oh, this issue of Knitty is really disappointing. Instead of being interesting and innovative, they've apparently focused this time on being "hip and edgy". Case in point: the cover photo. Yuck. Who do they think we are, fashion models?

On the other hand, I finally got the Yarn Harlot's wonderful new book from Amazon. It's just delightful!

Sorry about your eyeball. I don't think I'd like my eyeball to hurt. If it makes you feel any better, I thought I was doing much better and then I had a horrible bout of 'swell hell' this afternoon and had to take to the bed with my vicodin.

The branching out looks lovely m'dear.

Man, you and Rob and I should form a club. The blind leading the swollen and gimpy.

cute site! (thanks for poking 'round mine, too.)

how hard were the socks to make compared to, say, the airy scarf? (my first scarf was an aerie one, and that was something to finish...) i'm still testing these knitting waters, and unsure which direction to head. feet seem as good a direction as any.

:)

Socks vs. mohair lace is sort of an apples and oranges thing. Mohair is just plain 'ol tricky to maneuver. The socks were a breeze, but reading and having faith with the seemingly strange instructions required a lot of concentration. All in all, though, I like my scarf, but I love the socks. Just have patience and don't hesitate to ask the people at your LYS to show you how to pick up stitches.

Oh, is THAT why there's yarn all over my house? Wow. Who knew?

(See my post above -- I only noticed this after I re-read it today)

It's not a knitting web-site --
well, it could be, it might...
but if we manage it right,
keep it funny and light,
it'd be a poetry site.

Think I better say 'good night.'
