ridiculous
Okay, I'm going to stop blogging about my hurty eyeball. Really, I am. I went to the doctor today and had the contact lens taken out. He claims it's healing very nicely. I got some new drops to put in the eyeball and, holyfuckingshit, they sting. Just now I went to wipe a tear from my eye, and I noticed that my eyelashes are all stuck together.
Maybe I should just gouge the goddamned eyeball out with a knitting needle.
No more eyeball talk.
The Branching Out is coming along swimmingly. It'd be progressing faster if I could memorize the pattern. Rob pointed out that I can easily memorize page after page of lines, so I should be able to commit a simple-ish knitting pattern to memory. Seems like a good theory, but it's not happening.

It's not the same; they aren't even on the same side of your brain, thinks me. Lines are language-y, knitting patterns are math-y.

I dunno. I used a lot of weird mnemonics when I was trying to memorize those nonsensical lines during "Boys". I'd count how many times I had to say "Hi, Norman", and remember how many words I said every time I asked you for your keys, and think "this is where I say it for the third time, and therefore..." But you're right, it's all about language. I also find memorizing words and music together easier than just memorizing words.

That's 'cause you have an additional physical value to assign to the words when you're singing them... the same way when you memorize your lines while sitting still but can't remember them (at first) when you get up and move, and later you start to associate your lines and your blocking. But there we're getting into Conditioned Learning... I'll stop now.

So you're saying I should get up and do a little song and dance while I try to memorize my knitting patterns? That sounds almost like...exercise.

It doesn't necessarily sound like exercise... but I bet you could sell tickets! Which would make it more like... theatre.

Knitting as performance art. Don't get me started. :)
