sock it to me
I'm almost through with my first sock. There's just the toe decreases and seaming left. It's been a lot of fun and was a great confidence booster, especially since I deciphered the pattern all by myself. But it's soooooooo ugly. I used the basic starter pattern out of Knit Socks! Did I mention that it's ugly? The slipstitched heel is so bulky. It's totally graceless, even when it's got a foot in it. I'm tempted to not make the mate, but skip right to a more appealing-looking pattern (like the gorgeous one in Weekend Knitting). I might even just frog it for the yarn.
Also, my head really, really hurts.

What? No pictures of the ugly sock? I can't believe that it's THAT ugly until I see it for myself, obviously.
