shucks

Warning: Vicodin makes me a little weepy.

Despite being in really fairly severe pain all day yesterday (okay, and today), I had quite a nice day overall, thanks to all of you lovely people who sent me happy thoughts.

Rob took me to the orthopedist in the morning, where it was decided that the broken bone in the Hurty Footie couldn't be set and that we should just let it heal naturally. We had to wait forever at the orthopedist's, but he was just as nice and sweet as could be. (And, actually, so was everybody in the ER.)

Then my parents drove all the way down here and kept me company while Rob went to work. Mommy brought me some cookies that Elizabeth had baked me, and she waited on me hand and HF *and* finished hand-sewing the pinafores, which are darling.

Later, I got flowers from the family - impeccable flowers that very clearly said "Abbie ordered these". And Rob brought us a wonderful feast of Indian food, and all sorts of nice people phoned me - Paula called, and Mary called, and Bob called, and Stephen Mack called on behalf of the poker game we were missing. And I talked to Nancy on her last day at work and I cried, and I talked to Nathania, who cheered me up with the lure of orange yarn (which I now have in my hot little hands - OH MY GOD, CLAUDIA HAND-PAINTED YARN). And all of you fabulous people sent me tons of e-mail and blog comments!

I must have done something really amazing in a former life to deserve such a wonderful circle of family and friends. You guys just knock my handknitted socks off. I love y'all so much.

Hey, you just get well. You know how to do it better than we do. Main thing's the fever is gone. These things come and go in Assistant Directors, never know why. Call it acute fracture and inflammation of the hurty foot. Never seen a knitter with more vitality. That's the truth. Wink!

Just when I thought it wouldn't get better than the hurty eye, you come up with the hurty footie, which rhymes! OMG, you are too much! But I do hope that the HF goes away quickly, and that you're able to get around and knit and go to rehearsal and surf the web and do all the other stuff :).

Miss Katie, I'm so sorry that you have this hurty foot to deal with. I miss having you there to run my ideas past and to solve the problems that I'm not seeing with my mind on other issues. I adore you to pieces, I hope that this foot heals quickly, and I'm so very glad to read that so many wonderful folks have let you know how much they care about you. Big hugs.

Mommys are great creations. I'm glad everyone is taking such nice care of you. Heal quickly.

Hi, I'm just de-lurking to offer my sympathies too. It sounds like you are getting the TLC that a hurty foot deserves. Best wishes from another one of your blog-readers! ~ Carolyn B.

Cripes, what a love fest! Enough about your hurty footsie!!! Lets talk about more important matters....now, weren't those chocolate cookies I made for you just the tastiest in the whole world?? Hee hee- I hope your footsie is feeling better by Disneyland time. Who else can we count on to get tippsy and then make a spectacle of herself riding the Jungle Cruise? Don't let us down Katie!!

Yes, please send more cookies NOW.

I'll probably be all better by Disneyland, but if I'm not, maybe I can get one of those Little Rascals and we can wait in the gimpy lines!

Hope you're feeling a little better! I sent something off to you today - might get there by Saturday, but probably more likely Monday.
