the bad
Here's the damage. It really doesn't look like dirt, and it doesn't brush off. It looks sort of like grease, but I can't imagine where it came from. This is the worst of it - there are more marks similar to this about two inches away.
I'm probably going to bind it off and wash it. Dawn and Woolite have both been suggested. Any other suggestions?

Dude, that totally sucks. The damage seems serious. If it's grease, Dawn will get it out. I definitely wouldn't knit any more of this until I figured out whether this will come out, and what to do about it if it doesn't. So binding off and dealing with it right away sounds like a great idea. Keep us updated!
