oh, crap.
I totally forgot that Elizabeth is having a baby on the 24th. Dudes, what should I make my new niece? I was thinking of the baby kimono from the Summer 05 IK, or the baby tart hat from Knitty. But those are just desperation ideas. Help me out here, kids.
NO, I am NOT making another @#&%! Curlicue blanket.
I sort of don't want anything girly, unless it's Punk Rock Girly.

yarr!
I've been sitting here staring at my stash, unable to think of anything good to knit. I was TRYING to reduce stash, not add to it.
But I just found something I have to knit. Of course, this means I'm going to have to break down and learn Fair Isle.
Is this the coolest thing you've ever seen?

smart as a snake
Ethan apparently had quite the pirate-themed birthday today. Alas, I was at my matinee so I couldn't attend the festivities, but a good time was had by all, so I hear.
Joe got Ethan a Raiders flag. (You know, it's got a pirate on it.) When it was unfurled, Ethan looked at it and said disgustedly, "Stupid Raiders."
He cracks me up.

oh, yeah.
Hi, I still exist. I just spent the last week sleeping and being at rehearsal. The show opens tonight. Come see it, it's going to be good. You can wave to me in the booth. I will be the one making snarky comments on the headset while trying to get some knitting done.

sick as a dog
But I still crack myself up sometimes. Behold!
I woke up this morning feeling so utterly crappy that I actually went to the doctor. She listened to me bark like a harbor seal, then gave me a prescription for antibiotics and cough syrup.
When I picked up the durgs later from the durgstore, I was surprised at the largeness of the bottle of cough syrup. I was about to take a swig of it for the road (I was going to see my therapist), when it occurred to me that it might be the kind of cough syrup that makes you sleepy. BEHOLD! 400 ML of cough syrup with Codeine! I did a little happy dance.
Abbie insisted that I blog about it. Here you go.
Seriously, I crack myself up. Am having nap now.

In case you were all losing sleep over this, I thought I'd let you know that I found my missing Brittany #6 needle. It was in the salad bowl.

dumber than a sack of snakes
So I'm working on this scarf for my mom for Christmas (oops, that ship has sailed). I'm knitting away, minding my own business, then I lose a needle. So I go digging for another pair. I find a slightly less desirable pair and resume knitting. I knit for about 40 rows when I think how much I hate these needles. They're super long US5s. I pick up my original needle, a shorter Brittany, and sigh, I look longingly at the writing on it and notice that it's a SIX.
FUCKFUCKFUCK. Yes, Virginia, the change in gauge is noticeable. Probably not to my mom, but I can see it. But here's how much of a dork I am. Instead of frogging, I decide to blend in the gauge change by using one US5 and one US6.
It looks okay, but I'm going sure this act of idiocy is going to get me kicked off the knitting bloggers ring.

parting shot
All the houseguests are gone, the house is clean-ish, life is a little normal-ler.
But here's one last shot of Lisa Eve. She tried on the Pink Devil Hat and I told her it needed its nipples tweaked. She misheard me.

clues
Went to the City tonight, even though some us us (okay, me and Michael) weren't feeling all that perky. We went to Nanking for dinner, then to the Tonga room. There was a plan to go to Karaoke afterwards. The more severely crabby of us (okay, me and Michael) went back home instead. The rest of the gang are still out partying.
There were some allegations of improper (and very strange) behavior last night. Miraculously, I was not the perpetrator of said deeds. However, the story is fishy, and as neither Michael nor I have a crystal-clear picture of the whole evening, we've been sitting here trying to explain gaps of time unaccounted for, and we've made a list of questions to ask the allegators. (ha ha, i crack myself up.)
Anyway, here are some pictures from last night and today.

hair of the dog
okay, we're all up now. Steve wins the award for worst hair, I win the award for worst headache and most broken foot. Clearly I have issues with stairs. But at least it's the other foot. Michael is runner-up for worst headache. He had many, many, many Cham-hattans and Cham-ingtons. (the first is Champagne poured into a half-consumed Manhattan, and the other is a Boddingtons topped with Champagne)
Neuharth made up a really good drink. It's Absolut Citron, Peach Pucker, Satsumas, Chambord, grapefruit and orange juice with a float of Champagne. We call it "Denial".
Pictures are going up on smugmug. This is a contentious issue, as it's sucking up all the bandwidth.
Mmmm, mimosas.
