Good Morning, Oakland

Due to Faire activity and such, we haven't been home on the weekends much lately. Therefore, it's an extra treat to get to sleep in and not have to be anywhere (rehearsal) until eleven.

Yesterday, Nathan made me the best Hangtown Fry he's made yet. We're trying to come up with the ultimate recipe. This one had a definite advantage over its predecessors, as the oysters were fresh Small Sweetwaters from Hog Island. DAMNATION. SO good.

This morning was another stellar breakfast - Nathan made fresh peach puree for bellinis, and I made Marion Cunningham's yeasted waffles. Margaret knows of which I speak, nyah! With them we had some absolutely fantastic breakfast sausages from Berkeley Bowl. This meal was accompanied by the very, very loud (yet strangely charming and addictive "It's like we have our own little place in Cabo") Mariachi music that the neighbors like to play. Now we are rolling around in a waffley coma, trying to dredge up the will to go to rehearsal.

ZZzzzz.

Those are still the best waffles. I tried Cook's recipe a while back, and it just wasn't as good.

We had buttermilk pancakes and not very interesting sausages for breakfast (the store was out of our usual Isernio chicken-and-apple sausages).

Mmm, bellinis.

What a terrific sounding morning. I'm getting full just thinking about it. Hope the rest of the day was just as good.
