and don't call me "crafty"
I'm not sure what possessed me to do this, but look what I did.
All the cool kids at faire seem to be able to do blackwork, so I figured I ought to try it. I started with the acorns at the bottom (you can see where I screwed up), and it was pretty easy, so I moved up to the one at the top. It was a bit more difficult, but it was still do-able. Now I'm practicing with some thinner thread and fabric with a higher thread count. It's pretty cool.
And that's why there has been no knitting for the last couple of days. My second Flicker sock keeps giving me the evil eye. It had better watch itself, or it's going to find itself covered with embroidery. HA.

looks great, but please please please, whatever you do, do not ever use Aida cloth for clothing. If you want to do blackwork for a shirt go and get some even weave linen at Lacis, or just use a trip of whatever you are making the shirt out of . I'm serious, Aida cloth looks the sucks ass when people put it on as collars and cuffs.

As an alternative, I'm a fan of the cheap tear away cloth used by cross stitch enthusiasts. Sure it's a pain in the ass, but having seen the difference it's worth it.

Pretty! You aren't by any chance a member of the History Snobs tribe, are you? There have been rants about blackwork in the recent past.
You may need to show me how to do this. I finished Mojo's Knucks and need to embroider letters on the knuckles and am really intimidated for some weird reason.
Oh...and I ran into your avatar on Ravelry! Do you know she's out there running around?

Wow, that's pretty awesome. I've seen redwork around the blogs, but never blackwork! I've got to get out more. I used to do cross-stitch and this looks way better than my embarrassing alphabet sampler.
