Demolition Man

Oh, hai, we bought a house. WOO HOO!

The second the ink was dry on the papers, we immediately started tearing up our new house.

Here's the the horrible kitchen this morning - behold the horrendous ceramic tile, falling-down acoustic ceiling, 70's cupboards, olive green dishwasher, and Satan's window treatments:

Also, here's the old stove after Nathan unceremoniously yanked it out of the wall. Isn't this the ugliest thing you've ever seen?

Here's Nathan pulling down the supports for Satan's window treatments:

Avast! The world's ugliest vinyl flooring was under that crappy tile! Begone, foul demon!

All that's left is the sink and the dishwasher. That's coming out at the very last second.

Rot. Rotten wood. In a nice big chunk of real estate under where the washing machine was and will go again in what was once and will soon again be the service porch. I can't tell you how thrilled we were to see it. Rot rot rot.

That's what we did today. Not too shabby. Now it is time for gin and sausage.

I am so tired . . . but proud of what we accomplished. And we get to do more tomorrow. Woo hoo!

Wow! That stove is disturbing.

GURL - and Nathan too - You guys are doing a great job! It's so nice having you in the neighborhood! Chris and I look forward to having you both as neighbors and plan many a cocktail to be had between our houses (and Salli's in between).

All right girl!! Don't work too hard, but I think some knit lace valences might be just the thing!! :P

woo -hoo! yee - ha! and CONGRATS!

So happy for you guys. Looking forward to seeing what you make of the place.

Meanwhile, we're crazed with the final details of the house we're building "from scratch". . . . and wishing we could blame someone else - ANYone else - for the results of our own stupidity and/or bad choices/failures to think ahead. . . .

Ah well! Soldier on. And welcome home!

Wow...your house is pretty awesome! I love that style. And in the meantime, that stove is pretty amazing in a time warp kinda way. I'm glad you're getting rid of it though. Haha.

Congrats on the house! Don't hurt yourselves, good luck on the remodel...

Ours is taking twice as long and costing twice as much (in part because I'm doing none of it myself).

Good times!

Can I boldly suggest getting a proper ladder? I wince when I see your big strong man on that dainty step stool thingy.

Is that a convection oven on top of your face-only-a-mother-could-love stove unit? I can't imagine that it's a microwave, not if the oven is that shade of avocado. (Or is it my screen making it look pale-greenish?) I think avocado appliances were mercifully Over With by the time microwaves came around.

(Your blog is educational! Today I learned the word "soffit!")
